Apprenticeship Programs

Sheet Metal is a compulsory* Red seal, Inter-provincial trade

Apprenticeships consist of four years of training which include 7200 hours of on the job training and 32 weeks of technical training at Saskpolytechnic (Saskatoon Campus) As an Apprentice member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 296 the cost of school supplies including- Tuition, Books, Drafting Kits & HRAI will be covered via reimbursement upon successful completion of each level.

  • 7200 Hours on the job training followed by 8 weeks technical training at saskpolytechnic. At the end of your 8 weeks of training you will write your interprovincial exam usually on the last day of school
*A compulsory trade is a trade where you must be a registered apprentice or a certified journeyperson. The compulsory apprenticeship trades are Electrician, Plumber, Refrigeration Mechanic and Sheet Metal Worker. You can work up to, and including, 900 hours (six months) in the trade prior to becoming a registered apprentice.
